The Problem: Arch pain and pressure can result from flat feet (low arch or pes planus) or claw feet (high arch or pes cavus).
Cause: For flat feet, excessive pronation is often the cause of arch pain. To compensate for flat feet or high arches, the body's weight is often shifted to other parts of the foot. This can cause other foot problems (such as heel pain) and cause fatigue and pain in the ankles, knees and lower back, in addition to causing corns, calluses and bunions.
Pain in knees, legs or lower back is commonly caused by a foot condition that commonly occurs when the arches are improperly supported. This causes the arches to flatten and makes the feet unstable putting undue pressure on the conflicted areas.
